Overview
This California cosmetic medical clinic had been scaling Google Ads aggressively, but generic campaigns, overfed Performance Max, and misaligned landing pages meant cost climbed faster than results. By rebuilding the account around treatment-level intent, tightening search structure, and pairing high-intent keywords with focused consult pages, we turned scattered spend into a predictable stream of qualified cosmetic leads.
Objectives
- Lower cost per lead from $327+ to under $200, without decreasing volume.
- Increase total consultation leads and improve lead quality.
- Rebuild the account around service-specific intent so the clinic could scale spend confidently instead of guessing.
Challenges
- Existing campaigns bundled multiple procedures, service areas, and intents into the same ad groups.
- Shopping ads leaned on generic cosmetic language instead of the specific outcomes patients were searching for.
- Landing pages sent traffic to a mix of generic pages and informational content, diluting conversion rates and confusing tracking.
- Performance Max was spending heavily on broad, low-intent queries and blog traffic, driving up CPL without reliably filling the consult calendar.
Dropped Cost-Per-Lead by 61%
Strategy
- Rebuilt search campaigns with service-specific ad groups & revamped keywords by treatment type. RSAs were rewritten around real patient language & treatment benefits.
- Non-converting search terms were paused & budget was reallocated into high-intent, lower-volume services where the clinic had strong margins. Call extensions with day-parting were added so ready-to-book prospects could reach the receptionist directly during business hours.
- Layered beauty & cosmetic-focused audiences in observation mode to understand who was engaging, then tested new ad copy tied to trending topics in the aesthetic space. Campaigns were segmented by treatment category so budgets & creatives lined up with revenue priorities. Fresh asset sets were created using procedure one-pagers, patient testimonials, and lifestyle before/after visuals.
- Final URL expansion was disabled and blog / informational pages were excluded so paid clicks landed on conversion-focused pages only. Conversion value rules were implemented to prioritize high-revenue procedures. We synced with GA4, turned on enhanced conversions, and began importing offline conversions from the clinic’s CRM to align optimization with booked consults instead of just form fills.
- Dedicated landing pages were created for each core service line, each with a clear “Book a Consult” form and click-to-call option. We A/B tested headline angles, benefit messaging, and call vs form emphasis, while building a reusable asset library in Canva and Adobe Premiere Pro to keep Performance Max creative fresh without starting from scratch each time
